International Airport at Loreto , BCS
Note the thatched roofs
A little building on the grounds at the Oasis
They know how to make do......
Somebody is livin the good life !
Another beautiful morning in Loreto
Mi Amigos left me !! They had to get movin North
Luckily they left behind my 2 friends that went with me every morning on the beach !!
I headed South , when my pals left . Got down the road 50 miles or so and this couple was selling coconuts out of their truck
Don't look too closely at the chopping board !
She really did not want her photo taken -she never said a word and he never even tried one word of English !
But the coco was delish and very refreshing . 50 pesos ...about $3 US
A bay in the Sea of Cortez , as I'm moving South
Took a side road and went out to Agua Verde -a little fishing village ,on the Sea of Cortez .
About 30 miles out to it and it took me several hours to get there .
Mexican style ford or stream crossing -these work and they can take the big flash floods, that they get .
Mountains behind me are really quite large and very beautiful in their own way .
Road in to Agua Verde -
When it gets bad , they know how to build a road and make it last
Was quite a drop off on the right
Sea of Cortez with Sierras in the back ground
Good looking goats
There was probably 80 goats in this roving band .
I have passed thru the village and I am now parked out at the bay .
His day of fishing is over.
The fish buyer , drives out here every day , to buy these guys catch.
The van truck is the fish buyer and he hangs out in the shed , till they come back in .
Check out the boat in the little bay , out behind the fisherman
Leaving Agua Verde
Riding back in to the Sierras
Palapa 206 in Cuidad Constitution , BCS Mexico
Doug and I stayed here a week , when I broke down in 2012
I just wanted to stay here again , stayed one night and then I was gonna turn and head North ( Norte )
El Atribe restaurant in Constitution
Truly a classy place
Something you never see in Mexico .....all the chairs and tables match !
Where parking on the sidewalk is the norm and also very legal !
At the El Atribe
Piper Pawnee spray plane
I was stopped out on the highway about to take a picture of this plane , and the owner ,also the pilot, was waving frantically for me to come in to his place
So , I did !
This is where he fuels up and mixes the spray and keeps a few parts
Note the spare wings ready to go
We tried to talk for 20 minutes or so ....sort of a struggle - we just used a lot of sign language !
Heading North -leaving the farm land around Constitution
You can see the Sierras out there a ways .
A little rancho , along the highway .
See the palm trees they have planted
Pulled over and snapped this
Along the highways and roads , you see a lot of these shrines
Poor Leon , never made it home to his family
I'm guessing he was driving a Freightliner truck -thats what the hood shape tells me
Got another room at Mallarrimos again
Guerro Negro, BCS is a big whale watching area - hence the whale themed beds
They are very careful of their cactus
Military housing at Guerro Negro , BCS
These are not very big homes -but at least you get to choose from 4 colors or so
I crossed out of Mexico at Mexicali
Stayed the night at a hotel in Yuma -next morning I stopped for breakfast at the Space Age Cafe in Gila Bend, Az.
If you ever been to Gila Bend -you know where I'm talking about
It was there, that I met Don -he is 85 years old and was riding to see his brother in Iowa .
Don said his brother hadnt been off his couch in 20 years and he wanted to show him there is still lots of living to be had !!
Don had left San Diego that morning at 4am -and was fully prepared to camp
You are my hero Don .............go man go
I stopped in Glendale , Az .
As this is where my panniers on the bike were made -I got a nice tour from the welder man
Getting ready to add the hardware to these panniers
Rode across Phoenix to Apache Junction, Az .
Stayed out here at this park -only time I paid for camping
Glad I did ....had a great meal in Apache Junction and a cool camp spot
This one is called Flatiron
Told you I had a great spot !
Sun was setting fast
Looking towards Phoenix
This feller set up camp and then went in to town -I heard him come back at 2 am
Almost 9 am , when I snapped this .
I will always wonder how his head felt , on this morning ?
North out of Apache Junction , I hit Fish Creek Canyon
These green rocks were very cool -they would look better early in the morning
One lane road , starting in to the canyon
I was amazed at how well the cactus looked , growing below these cliffs -and it was just like an oven in this tight little canyon .
The cactus looked fabulous
That creates Roosevelt Lake
